We recently spent a few days in London as I was attending Britmums Live and Andy and Amelia came along too! The event was on Friday and Saturday which left us with Sunday to be tourists and take a wander around London. I haven't been to London since I lived there over 14 years ago except for a school trip when I was 16 to the Tate Modern. So it was a real eye opener and great to see everything and how things had changed.
We got up handy in the morning and caught the tube to Waterloo in Central London, I had never been on the tube well except from when I was a kid, so it took a bit of getting used to but once we figured it out we were pro's! Thank god we took the pushchair and not the Quinny otherwise it would have been a hassle. We first walked around for a bit and took the opportunity to see a few of the attractions such as Big Ben, The London Eye and the Houses of Parliament. Next we went to Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square which were both heaving with people and grabbed some lunch.
After lunch we got on the tube and got off at Hyde Park Corner to take a walk around Hyde Park. Amelia loved being able to run about especially as she had been in the pushchair all morning. Even though the weather wasn't that great she still managed to run about for a while. She kept walking up to groups of strangers and waving then shouting at them and then would wave and walk off. Everyone thought it was hilarious! She definitely isn't shy!
We then walked to Buckingham palace which was packed surprisingly for a Sunday and spent half an hour or so there then we walked up to get the tube to go and get something to eat as Amelia was getting slightly fussy. We found a Pizza express and had a lovely meal. Amelia enjoyed begging us for some pizza! After that we hopped back on the tube and went to Piccadilly Circus as Andy wanted to go there and then got the tube back to our hotel.
We had a great weekend in London, even though we only got to explore the one day we managed to visit a few places. Next time we will go for 4 days again or longer but go to different attractions which will be great as Amelia will be older.
