Review - Baker Day Letterbox Cake

I was recently asked to review a Baker Day Letterbox cake and I couldn't resist temptation! Who doesn't love a bit of cake? I was given the opportunity to choose my own design and personalisation and because there were no birthdays coming up I decided to get it personalised for my blog anniversary which is coming up next month for a bit of fun.

Baker Day specialise in cakes that fit through your letterbox, they also have a range of cupcakes and larger letterbox cakes too. There are hundreds of designs to choose from, 5 cake flavour options and you are able to personalise your cake with text or uploading a photo.

I decided on the 'All about the cake' design and added the name 'Ohsoamelia' and were sent the fruit cake. Which I believe was carrot? I'm not a huge fruit cake fan but this was delicious! Baker days claim that all cakes will stay fresh for at least 14 days from dispatch, upon opening I was rather dubious to this, however it was wonderfully moist! It arrived within 2 days so I'm not sure how it would have been 2 weeks later but I'd imagine that for at least a week it would still be as moist as can be. They also have plain sponge, double chocolate chip and gluten and wheat free available.

The letterbox cake provides 3-4 portions and is priced from £14.99 with free delivery. It arrived in a sturdy cardboard box and packed in a plastic wrapper in a separate tin. This also came with balloons and candles which I thought was a lovely added touch. Just like it says on the box, it is a letterbox cake. I was actually surprised to see it lying on the floor by the door as I had though the postman would have had to ring the bell. The colours of the text were bright and vibrant and the icing was just yummy! I couldn't resist eating it all straight away. Although it said that you can get 3-4 portions out of it, I think I managed to get 6 as I cut smaller portions but the size of the cake was really decent.

I love the idea behind Baker Days letterbox cakes... a unique, personalised tasty cake delivered through the door of a loved one (or yourself). Such a lovely thoughtful gift!

You can buy your own personalised letterbox cake from Baker Days from £14.99.
