After Christmas and New Year the decorations come down and thoughts are turned towards Valentines Day. There are many different crafts and recipes to make for valentines and today I am sharing with you how to make your very own Valentine's Cake Pops. This was actually my first time ever making a cake let alone cake pops and I didn't let the cake cool down first (silly me) so DO let yours cool down first ha ha ha!
1. Bake a cake. You can use a pre-made cake mix if you wish and this can be any flavour. I chose chocolate and I've never baked a cake before in my life so of course I used boxed stuff. Let it cool down first before breaking up. (I made that mistake and the cake pops didn't work) 2. Break up the cake into pieces and add your icing (frosting) to the bowl. 3. Mix the icing into the cake. This can get messy! 4. Roll the cake mix into small ball. I found that the ones I made were too big and they wouldn't hold together so make them about the size of two of your fingers.
5. Once you have made your cake balls, pop them in the fridge for 1-2 hours or the freezer for just half an hour to harden slightly. Now get your supplies together. 6. Melt your candy melts in the microwave or in pan. 7. Dip a lollipop stick into the mixture then put it into the ball and dip that into the mixture covering as much as possible. (mine wasn't runny enough so didn't cover as much as I liked) 8. Place them on a plate or stand them upright on foam. Then decorate them how ever you like. You could do different designs however I only had red candy melts so that had to do. I used chocolate sprinkles to decorate.
There you have your very own cake pops, share them with your kids, friends and family.

I haven't tried making cake pops. One thing i should try one day. It looks yummy by the way.
ReplyDeleteYou should :) It was fun to do as I've never done it before either.
DeleteThanks, I must say they taste better than they look lol!
Wow these look so good!

Thank you :)
DeleteCake pops are fun ~ I have done them with an actual cake pop pan which I have and also the traditional way (like you)
ReplyDeleteI must say while the cake pop pan is easier the way you did it makes the cake pops more moist.
Still ~ they are fun to decorate!

Ooh I didn't know they had a cake pop pan! I must invest in one.
DeleteThis was my first time and I think it was disaster haha! But I need practice for Amelia's birthday. I think I made the balls too big too so they wouldn't stay on the sticks lol!
Ahhh well I best get practicing.
Thanks for stopping by :)
