DIY | Personalised Suitcase

There's nothing worse than getting off your plane and waiting at the luggage belt only to find you can't recognize your suitcase. If like me and you had a plain black suitcase, why not jazz it up a bit so you will able to find it! Also it will be unique. I didn't want to go overboard so I just prettied it up a little bit by using an old dress. You can use any fabric you like. Why not have a look in your wardrobe for a nice pattern? Here is a quick and simple tutorial on how to personalise your suitcase.

Supplies
Suitcase
Hot glue gun/sewing kit
Your choice of fabric
Fabric scissors
Ribbon (If wanted)

1. Get your suitcase! This can be plain black like mine or already have a pattern but needs covering up.

2. Lay the Suticase down and get your fabric. Mine is an old dress. Cut it up into the size that you require for each part. I decided to do the handles, down the side of the suitcase and the front pocket.

3. Measure the fabric and make sure it fits before gluing down. You can sew it if you prefer.

4. Next, starting in one corner glue the fabric down, working your way across. Ensuring there is enough glue to secure it.

5. Cut around any buckles or buttons, this will give the suitcase a better over all look. Finish gluing all the way around the area you require not covering any zips. Cut any loose strands.

6. It should then look something like this.

7. I then cut a small piece of fabric for the handle.

8. Glue to together under the handle to hide any glue and loose fabric. It should look like this.

9. I then decided to do the side handle too so I repeated the previous step.

10. I also glued thin strips of fabric along the side too. This is optinal and you can also add fabric to any other areas you wish. (See photo's below)

And there you have your very own personalised suitcase! Which you can easily spot coming down the luggage belt at the airport. I am actually quiet pleased with the results! Hope this tutorial was of help. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

  1. I love this! It's stylish, unique, and an easy way to personalize your luggage. The biggest plus, however, is there'd be no guesswork at the conveyor belt at the airport!

  2. This is SUCH a good idea. We have so much traveling coming up, I'm going to have to get this done before then. And it looks super cute! Thanks for the inspiration. :-)
